Why do we have uplifted hands?
Paul said that he wanted “men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing” (I Tim. 2:8) This demonstrates a person’s faith in Christ’s forgiveness for them and others.

Why do we sing choruses as well as hymns?
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” Eph. 5:18-19.

Why does the whole church pray together?
There are times when we all pray together to God in one accord and at the same time. “And when they heard that, they lifted up their voices to God with one accord and said, “Lord, Thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth...” Acts 4:24.

Why do the people dance with joy?
From time to time you may see folks express their joy before the Lord through dancing. “Let them praise His name with the dance” Ps 149:3. “Praise Him with the tambourine and dance” Ps 150:4. “Then David danced before the Lord with all his might...” 2 Sam. 6:14.

Why do we have tongues and prophecy?
“On occasion the Holy Spirit will speak a word of encouragement through the gift of tongues or prophecy. “Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues” 1 Cor 14:39. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal... to another divers kinds of tongues; to another interpretation of tongues” 1 Cor 12:7. “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the result then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the understanding also, I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the understanding also. 1 Cor. 14:27.

Why are some heard to sing in tongues and in English?
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the result then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with understanding also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the understanding also” 1 Cor. 14:14-15.

Why do we anoint with oil and pray for the sick?
“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will raise him up...” James 5:14-15. “And these sign will follow those who believe; in My name they will... lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” Mark 16:17.
